Liquid smoke is a flavor enhancer commonly used in smoked products typically found in supermarkets such as sausages, cheese, sauces, and more. The process is done by condensing the smoke captured from burning wood. The liquid is then mixed into the concentrate to filter out the soot and ash typically found in wood remnants. This yellowish-brown substance then becomes liquid smoke.

Practical uses of liquid smoke can be seen in households that aren’t equipped with a smoker or grill. This flavor enhancer can greatly give a legitimately smoked flavor to your cooked dishes. Chipotle powder is made of grounded jalapeno peppers (some are made with Morita and assorted jalapeno peppers) that were smoked slowly for an extended period of time. This results in a smokey, spicy, and refreshing flavor.

Spanish Smoked Paprika

Spanish smoked paprika is another great alternative for people looking for smoked flavor without using one. This spice is prepared by drying peppers over oak, which is burned for a minimum of 2 weeks. Available in two variants: Pimenton de la Vera Picante (smokey hot flavor) and Pimenton de la Vera Dulce (sweet, smokey flavor).
